Voigtlander 75mm f/1.9 Ultron VM SC Lens Summary
With a black paint finish, the Voigtlander 75mm f/1.9 Ultron VM SC Lens is the single coating (SC) variant of two prime medium telephoto lenses for Leica M mount. It is designed by Voigtlander to offer beautiful bokeh from a wide aperture with 12-bladed design and pin-sharp manual focus, whilst remaining extremely compact for a 75mm full-frame lens designed for Leica Rangefinders.
It is ideally suited to B&W and film photography, with lower contrast results than rendered by the 75mm f/1.9 Ultron MC lens and the perfect companion to the Leica M6 and other Rangefinders. It can also be used with other mirrorless cameras including Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X-mount and Nikon Z-mount, by adding a suitable Voigtlander lens converter, such as the Voigtlander VM-E Adapter II.
The newly designed optical formula suppresses chromatic aberration and ensures high image quality, with 7 elements arranged into 5 groups, 3 of which are made of cutting-edge partial-dispersion glass. A moderate amount of spherical aberration can be seen, which has been left in order to strike a balance between bokeh and resolution.

Voigtlander 75mm f/1.9 Ultron VM SC Lens in More Detail
Single coating lens design
Single coated Voigtlander lenses are ideal for black and white photography and film photography, where results are flatter, with lower contrast and stronger flares. A higher light transmission provides the opportunity to capture unique images, which can be pushed during processing. You will also notice great saturation when capturing colour images, so this is not to be dismissed, even when shooting predominantly in colour.
Compact and highly portable design
The simple new construction allows all of the elements to move in tandem, resulting in a truly compact 54.1 mm overall length, which is highly portable whilst suppresses vignetting. This lens is equipped with a high-precision rangefinder-coupled mechanism, whilst the full-metal helicoid ring provides a silky smooth luxurious focus-feel and truly pleasing focusing on a film or digital rangefinder camera.
Close minimum focus distance
A 0.5m minimum focusing distance allows for extremely close focus, beyond even many rangefinder mechanically-linked focus-ranges. The lens can also be used with Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X-mount, and Nikon Z-mount digital cameras with Voigtländer mount adapters.

Our Verdict
Voigtlander lenses provide a unique character which the 75mm f/1.9 Ultron VM SC Lens follows. This is especially apparent thanks to the single coating, which renders lower contrast results, which are well suited to black and white and film photography. The short telephoto lens offers customary high build quality with exceptional durability from an all-metal barrel design, and a silky smooth focus ring.
The optics in this particular model are intended to capture beautiful bokeh with smooth defocus areas. Bokeh is rendered by 12-aperture blades with a wide f/1.9 design, in keeping with fast ULTRON lenses, which are capable of highly desirable results. Vignetting and chromatic aberration is well suppressed, with the 75mm f/1.9 Ultron VM SC capable of delivering extremely characterful and high-quality images.
Despite a high quality optical design and all-metal exterior, you can walk around with this lens all day thanks to its compact size and low 290g weight. This makes it the perfect companion for a wide range of subjects and situations whether shooting handheld during low light or when tripod mounted at any time of day.
