Pulsar Axion XQ30 Pro Thermal Imaging Monocular Summary
The Axion XQ30 Pro is Pulsar’s latest compact thermal monocular, which replaces the popular XM30F with a newly upgraded 384x288 resolution sensor. This enhanced 17µm sensor with <25mK NETD sensitivity provides sharper, cleaner thermal imaging and can detect heat signatures at distances of up to 1050 metres. It’s a highly capable tool for wildlife observation, environmental monitoring, search and rescue, and for general outdoor use.
A 30mm f/1.2 objective lens, wide 13.3° field of view, and 600x400 AMOLED display deliver bright, detailed images, even when you’re out in frosty or low-contrast conditions. The ergonomic design is compact and lightweight, weighing in at just 300g, while the magnesium alloy housing is robust and waterproof to IPX7.
With up to 8 hours of battery life and USB-C fast charging, the Axion XQ30 Pro is perfect for extended use in the field. Additional features include three sensitivity amplification levels, eight viewing colour palettes, built-in photo and video recording, and Picture-in-Picture mode for closer inspection without losing the wider view.
Stream Vision 2 compatibility adds remote control and firmware updates via your phone or tablet, making this a reliable and advanced thermal device for a wide range of outdoor uses.

Upgraded Thermal Sensor
The Axion XQ30 Pro is equipped with a pro-grade 384x288 thermal sensor with 17µm pixel pitch and <25mK NETD sensitivity, combined with a fast 30mm f/1.2 lens. This configuration delivers excellent heat detection, even in challenging weather, with high contrast and clarity for spotting subtle temperature differences.
Enhanced Detection with Sensitivity Boost
Three sensitivity amplification levels help users adapt to different weather and temperature conditions. Filtration algorithms, brightness and contrast controls work together to render scenes more clearly, helping to distinguish warm objects from their surroundings when observing at different times of day or night.
Wide Field of View
A 13.3° field of view enables fast scanning of wider areas. This makes it easier to track movement and keep context of the surroundings, while maintaining the ability to zoom in for closer inspection.
Picture-in-Picture View
Picture-in-Picture mode adds a secondary zoomed view within the main display, occupying just 10% of the screen. This feature supports detailed observation without losing sight of the wider scene.
High-Quality AMOLED Display
The 600x400 resolution AMOLED screen delivers smooth, high-contrast visuals and accurate colour rendering, even in frosty or low-temperature environments. Thermal images are sharp and easy to interpret.

Weighing just 300g, the Axion XQ30 Pro is highly portable and fits comfortably in the hand. Its compact size is matched with a tough magnesium alloy housing, which protects the internals while doubling as a heatsink to maintain efficient operation. IPX7 waterproofing ensures continued performance in rain and wet conditions, while the device withstands everyday knocks with ease. Button placement is intuitive, with all key functions accessible with minimal hand movement.
Up to 8 Hours Battery Life and Fast Charging
Powered by a rechargeable APS3 battery, the Axion XQ30 Pro runs for up to 8 hours (temperature dependent) on a single charge. Fast USB-C charging and hot-swap battery capability allow you to stay out longer. The included battery can be recharged using mains power or USB with the Pulsar charger.

Condition guide
Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.

This product has been thoroughly tested by our team of photographers and we are happy to give a 6 month warranty as a result. The number of tests depends on the individual product but we are confident in this product having tested all the major functions. Anything that isn’t as you would expect, we then make a note of and show this in the condition notes on the page.
