Intuitive Ergonomics

Built with Nikon’s renowned handling, the power zoom lens features customisable control rings for focus, zoom, and aperture adjustments. Each ring is individually knurled, allowing users to identify them by touch, even in low-light environments or on a dark studio set. The zoom lever is also ergonomically placed for operation at waist or shoulder height, giving videographers more precise control across a variety of shooting positions.

Versatile Power Zoom Design

The power zoom (PZ) system enables precise, motorised zooming for smooth focal transitions, which is ideal for cinematic storytelling. The range covers a 28mm wide-angle to 135mm telephoto zoom for filmmaking, encompassing popular focal lengths such as 28mm, 35mm, and 50mm.

A close minimum focus distance of 0.34m between 28-50mm and 0.57m at 135mm further extends your creative shooting possibilities, ensuring easy adaptation to different shooting styles and scenes, while catering to smaller indoor sets.

Location Ready

The lens’s well-balanced construction and compact size make it easy for filmmakers to handle for documentary, run-and-gun or independent shoots. Whether mounted on a gimbal, rigged to a cage, or handheld, the lens supports creative freedom with a low weight of just 1.21kg.

Ideal for Follow Focus and Matte Boxes

The Nikon Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ Zoom Lens features a design, which is fully compatible with follow focus systems and matte boxes for greater creative flexibility. The focus ring has a gear pitch of 0.8m, which is perfect choice for controlled, precise focus pulls and seamless lens transitions when using a standard follow focus system.

Well-Balanced Design

The smooth zooming internal motor and optimised weight distribution with a mere 2mm shift in centre of balance from wide to tele, ensures that the lens is able to maintain a stable centre of gravity. This is ideal whether mounted on a gimbal, tripod, or cage, with a design that also minimises front-heaviness, for smoother handling and steady movements in various conditions.

Weather-Sealed Tough Build Quality

The Nikon Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ Zoom Lens features a high-performance fully weather-sealed build, which protects all moving parts against dust, dirt and moisture. Additionally, a Fluorine coated front element features non-stick properties that is easy to clean.

nikon-z-28-135mm-f4-pz-04

Customisable operation

With a fully customisable design, which includes the ability to reverse the direction of the focus and zoom ring, filmmakers can adapt the lens to specific production environments and accommodate muscle memory.

Synchronised Power Zoom with Easy Focusing

For situations where you need even greater reach, the lens’s power zoom system is compatible with the 4K Hi-Res Zoom feature found in select Nikon mirrorless cameras. This can also be combined with the Synchro integration in Nikon cameras, for smooth transitions between power zoom and High-Res zoom.

95mm filter attachment

With a 95mm filter thread filmmakers can add industry-standard accessories including lens filters, matte boxes, magnetic filter systems and more.
