Hawke Vantage Laser Rangefinder 900 Summary

The Hawke Vantage Laser Rangefinder 900 is the most advanced model in the Vantage range, delivering precise distance measurements from up to 900m. It is designed for wildlife observation, conservation, and land management, with clear, reliable readings at the press of a button, even across wide landscapes. The rangefinder features 6x magnification, an adjustable dioptre, and a fully multi-coated optical system with BK-7 prisms, ensuring bright, true-colour visuals with high clarity.

With its extended range, the Vantage 900 is ideal for long-distance measurement capabilities, and it features an optical system, which provides a 140m @ 1000m field of view, making it easier to scan and assess larger areas.

With multiple rangefinding modes, the Vantage 900 can be used in different conditions, beginning with Standard mode, which provides straight-line distance measurements, while Active Scan continuously updates the distance as you move. Rain mode filters out interference from raindrops for accurate readings in wet weather. Horizontal Distance (HD) mode and Angle mode allow users to measure true horizontal distances and angles of projection, which is ideal for environmental and land studies.

The Vantage 900 is compact, lightweight, nitrogen-purged, waterproof, and fog-proof, with an auto shut-off feature to extend battery life. Hawke’s two-year warranty comes as standard and it is a great choice for professionals and enthusiasts who need long-range measurement.

Hawke Vantage Laser Rangefinder 900 in More Detail

Operating modes

Standard mode

This mode measures the straight line distance to the subject you are aiming at. It is measured to the nearest tenth of a yard/metre.

When there is nothing displayed in the targeting modes area of the display (to the right or underneath the distance), you are in Standard mode.

Active Scan: If you hold the POWER button while in Standard mode the range finder will continuously scan so you can move around and get constant updates of the distance.

Rain mode

Rain mode measures the straight line distance to the subject, but ignores any interference from falling raindrops. When range finding in Rain mode, the Horizontal Distance will also be shown on the lower distance readout line.

Horizontal Distance 'HD' Mode

HD mode measures the horizontal distance to the subject. The straight line distance is shown on the upper distance readout and the HD component is shown on the lower distance readout.

If shooting at high angles in the mountains, firing airguns that have loopy trajectories, or shooting bows from a tree stand, HD mode gives a more realistic distance for use when calculating holdover aim points.

Angle mode

Angle mode measures the angle of projection. It is measured to the nearest tenth of a degree. The straight line distance is shown on the upper distance readout and the angle measurement is shown on the lower distance readout. When aiming downhill a minus symbol will appear to the left of the angle display.
