Hawke Vantage Laser Rangefinder 400 Summary
The Hawke Vantage Laser Rangefinder 400 provides precise distance measurement with a range of up to 400m, offering quick and reliable readings at just the press of a button. This rangefinder is ideal for wildlife observation, conservation, and land management, and features a fully multi-coated optical system with BK-7 prisms for high light transmission and true-colours. The 6x magnification and adjustable dioptre ensure a clear and detailed view, while the wide-angle optical system enhances visibility across larger landscapes, thanks to the 140m @100m field of view.
With multiple rangefinding modes, the Vantage 400 adapts to different conditions, with a Standard mode, which measures the straight-line distance to a subject with an Active Scan function that provides continuous updates while moving. Rain mode filters out interference from raindrops, ensuring accurate readings in wet conditions, while the Horizontal Distance (HD) mode and Angle modes allow users to measure true horizontal distances and angles of projection, useful for precise terrain assessment.
The LCD display presents aiming guides, distance readouts, targeting modes, and battery status, making operation straightforward and efficient. The Vantage 400 is compact, lightweight, nitrogen-purged, waterproof, and fog-proof for outdoor use in any conditions, with an auto shut-off function to conserve battery life. It is also backed by Hawke’s two-year warranty for long-term reliability.

Hawke Vantage Laser Rangefinder 400 in More Detail
Operating Modes
Standard mode
This mode measures the straight line distance to the subject you are aiming at. It is measured to the nearest tenth of a yard/metre.
When there is nothing displayed in the targeting modes area of the display (to the right or underneath the distance), you are in Standard mode.
Active Scan: If you hold the POWER button while in Standard mode the range finder will continuously scan so you can move around and get constant updates of the distance.
Rain mode
Rain mode measures the straight line distance to the subject, but ignores any interference from falling raindrops. When range finding in Rain mode, the Horizontal Distance will also be shown on the lower distance readout line.
Horizontal Distance 'HD' Mode
HD mode measures the horizontal distance to the subject. The straight line distance is shown on the upper distance readout and the HD component is shown on the lower distance readout.
If shooting at high angles in the mountains, firing airguns that have loopy trajectories, or shooting bows from a tree stand, HD mode gives a more realistic distance for use when calculating holdover aim points.
Angle mode
Angle mode measures the angle of projection. It is measured to the nearest tenth of a degree. The straight line distance is shown on the upper distance readout and the angle measurement is shown on the lower distance readout. When aiming downhill a minus symbol will appear to the left of the angle display.
