Canon EOS R50 V Camera Body in More Detail
Designed for video
Canon has refined the R50 V’s body design to include a comfortable grip for handheld shooting, and the camera features a video-first mode dial on top, for quick access to different shooting modes. This dial also provides access to photo mode, which enables either manual or auto control via the camera menu.
Vari-angle touchscreen
A thoughtfully designed Vari-angle touchscreen allows you to flip out the LCD screen in horizontal and vertical recording modes for selfies and difficult angles. The screen doesn’t interfere with any cables connected to the camera, and the menu system automatically flips orientation when switching between horizontal and vertical for uninterrupted shooting.
A tripod hole for vertical shooting can be found on the camera’s side, which allows for connection to any standard tripod, as well as the Canon Tripod Grip HG-100TBR for vlogging and remote control. Additionally a red record button on the front of the camera provides easy recording activation when vlogging, without needing to change the position of the camera.

Canon Advanced Shoe
An advanced shoe on the camera lets you add a compatible Canon Speedlite, external microphone or other cable-free accessory to elevate your content with a dedicated accessory. The body also features a power zoom lever, enabling digital zooming when shooting with a PZ lens, such as the RF-S 14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ Lens, which launched simultaneously with the camera. This delivers smooth fingertip control over the lens’ zoom, without needing to change your grip on the camera.
Canon RF Mount
With the RF mount you can add the latest prime and zoom lenses not only from Canon, but also third party manufacturers including Sigma, who has extensive experience in developing world-class lenses. These include zooms such as the Sigma 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary Lens for Canon RF Mount and Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Canon RF Mount, both of which provide extensive reach with versatile zoom ranges.
Meanwhile Canon has a number of options that include the Canon RF-S 10-18mm F/4.5-6.3 IS USM Lens, which is perfect for landscapes, travel and vlogging on this crop-format mirrorless camera.

Content that looks its best
Capture stunning video content in a variety of formats, including 4K30p oversampled video from 6K, slow motion in 4K 60p (cropped) or Full HD 120p. The Canon Log 3 profile is also available, which captures a wider dynamic range with broad colour grading versatility during post. 4:2:2 10-bit recording is available, allowing for more accurate and smoother colour rendition in your video footage.
Canon has also included a Custom Picture profile feature, which allows you to fine-tune your content by adjusting certain settings such as gamma/colour space, matrix, and by using look files. This offers quick changes to your preferred image characteristics as well as presets, which provides advanced capabilities for streamlined content creation.
Tools for high-end production values
Various tools are available to help users streamline their content creation process through the use of Aspect Markers, Timecode and specific exposure and focus tools such as False colour, zebra display, and MF peaking.
- Aspect Markers provide a visual guide for how the final image will look in various aspect ratios, which is ideal when you create content for different platforms.
- Timecode adds specific metadata to your videos, enabling accurate syncing that allows the editing process to move more smoothly.
- A tally lamp is available, highlighting when the camera is recording so you never accidentally miss segments.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
One of the most impressive features of the EOS R50 V is the inclusion of Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, which is powerful autofocus technology for stills and video found throughout high-end cameras like the EOS R5 and R6 Mark II. This system offers wide sensor coverage so you can achieve sharp focus on yourself or your subject, even as it moves to the edges of the frame.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II also features advanced subject recognition to track people, select animals, and vehicles, making it easier to get sharp results, while concentrating on the creative aspect of your content.
