Much of the success which DJI enjoys is due to their Mini-series of camera drones, which combine great image quality with a compact travel-friendly design. DJI Mini 4 Pro features comprehensive upgrades to its vision sensing system, imaging system, video transmission system, and intelligent features.
Whether you’ve been waiting patiently for the DJI Mini 4 Pro release date in order to upgrade, or simply want to know which features are included in the next generation aircraft, you can discover what’s new in our DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone review.
We have a comprehensive specs comparison with other Mini and Air models, what’s in the box comparison with the Combo, as well as comprehensive information about the best features, which you can harness for your aerial content creation.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro release date was 25 September 2023, which is barely a year after the previous generation Mini 3 Pro and the Mini 3 launched. This highlights DJI’s dedication to updating their most popular aircraft with the latest technology and imaging capabilities as they become available.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro price is £979.00 for the combo kit, £869.00 for the aircraft with RC 2 controller and £689.00 when you opt for the DJI Mini 4 Pro with DJI RC-N2.
At launch DJI released three different Mini Pro 4 variants. These include one combo with the DJI RC 2 controller, a standalone drone with the RC2, and a drone with the DJI RC-N2 controller. The difference is down to additional accessories in the Combo, and the type of included controller.
The table below outlines what’s included in each of the DJI Mini 4 Pro drones and combo, so you can decide which is best for your needs. Typically most aerial creators will want an additional flight battery or two, making the Fly More Combo the most popular.

The DJI RC 2 Remote Controller provides several advantages, however the biggest difference between DJI RC 2 and RC-N2 controllers is the 5.5-inch 1920x1080 built-in FHD display on the RC 2. This is brighter than most mobile phone screens, while the RC-N2 requires a mobile phone to operate the drone.
Aside from the built-in screen which saves your phone battery, the RC 2 Remote Controller comes with 32 GB of built-in storage for screen recording and caching, and it also accepts a microSD card for additional storage capacity.

The DJI Mini 4 Pro has been upgraded compared to earlier mini drones through its video capabilities, 10-bit D-Log M, HLG colour profiles, safety features and automated flight paths. This generation adds 4K/60fps HDR and Night Shots Video, upgraded 4K/100fps slow motion, and Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing amongst other upgrades.

Yes, by adding 4K/60p HDR video, as well as 100fps in 4K for the first time in this range, the Mini 4 Pro captures the best video quality ever on a mini-series drone. You can also record ‘true’ vertical video in 4K, which rotates the gimbal through 90º.
The addition of 10-bit D-Log M colour profile also allows the camera to gather more colour data, whilst retaining more highlight and shadow information. This results in improved colours, finer graduations and better overall movie quality with more flexible post-production. DJI also includes HLG (industry HDR standard, adaptive to Rec.709/BT.2020 colour space), for more flexibility depending on how much editing you want to do in post production.
DJI introduced a new image-processing platform into the camera module, in order to improve the overall imaging performance.
The Mini 4 Pro is the safest Mini-series aircraft to date, and is the first 249g drone to include omnidirectional vision sensing, allowing users to control sideways flight or use MasterShots and other intelligent features in complex environments for greater peace of mind.
The aircraft is equipped with four fisheye vision sensors, downward binocular vision sensors, a 3D ToF sensor and an auxiliary light.
The inclusion of APAS 5.0 (Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems) enables the DJI Mini 4 Pro to quickly identify and bypass obstacles in all directions during flights. This means that you can capture smooth footage, even in relatively complex environments without worrying about hitting obstacles in any direction.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro provides the following flight features, many of which have been upgraded for this generation drone.
ActiveTrack with Touch Trace |
ActiveTrack has been upgraded allowing the pilot to set the drone to follow a certain flight route during the tracking process. |
FocusTrack |
Spotlight Point of Interest ActiveTrack (Trace/Parallel) |
Advanced RTH |
During a flight, the drone can scan its surroundings globally, implement internal mapping and plan the optimal route back to its home point, faster and more efficiently. |
Waypoint Flight |
The drone will automatically fly along preset points, designated by the user. You have the option of assigning customisable actions during Waypoint, along saveable and repeatable routes. |
Cruise Control |
This feature allows you to lock flight speed based on how hard you’re pressing the control sticks. Once engaged the drone will maintain that speed for the duration, although it can be manually adjusted at any time. |
Hyperlapse |
Hyperlapse has been upgraded allowing the time limit to be cancelled and by adding support for compositing while shooting to save time. |
MasterShots |
MasterShots helps you shoot high-quality video footage more easily and quickly, and is available in Portrait/Proximity/Landscape. |
QuickShots |
Predefined movements include: Dronie/Circle/Helix/Rocket/Boomerang/Asteroid |
Panorama |
Pano shooting has been upgraded with 100 MP images in 180°/Sphere mode. Wide Angle/Vertical mode has also been upgraded. |
DJI has enhanced video and safety features while retaining excellent battery life in the foldable Mini 4 Pro. It meets the needs of most pilots with flights lasting up to 34 minutes, and the battery can be recharged in just 58 minutes to get you creating more quickly.
You can use Mini 3 Pro batteries in Mini 4 Pro, however it is not recommended by DJI.
When capturing 48MP RAW images and movies with Mini 4 Pro, you can take manual control of parameters like shutter speed, ISO, and white balance in the DJI Fly app. This ensures advanced creators can come away with precisely the shot they envisaged from any given opportunity.
DJI Mini 4 Pro is compatible with a number of brand new and existing drone accessories to help you get the most out of any flight. These include:
While maintaining a 249g design, the next generation Mini Pro drone boasts an omnidirectional vision sensing system and uses a new image-processing platform, whilst supporting 4K/60fps HDR videos, with optional 10-bit D-Log M and HLG colour modes.
It is equipped with the DJI O4 FHD digital video transmission system, and comes with newly upgraded ActiveTrack 360°, Waypoint Flight, Advanced RTH, Cruise Control, and other intelligent features, making it the most advanced and capable Mini drone ever from DJI.
Reserve your DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone Fly More Combo (RC 2) with extra batteries and other accessories included, or choose the DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone (RC 2) with the same controller. You can also opt for the base DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone (DJI RC-N2) to take your aerial content to the next level.
