Panasonic G9 II Firmware Update 2.0 Raw Video

Panasonic stands as the industry leader when it comes to enhancing Lumix cameras through firmware updates, which continually introduce new features and capabilities. An upcoming firmware update for the Panasonic G9 II is on the horizon, bringing the exciting ability to record RAW video via HDMI in both BlackMagic RAW and ProRes RAW formats, compatible with select video recorders.

Which RAW formats are available?

For those who work with BlackMagic RAW a Blackmagic Design Video Assist 5″ or 7″ 12G HDR will allow you to capture video in 12-bit RAW. For ProRes RAW and Ninja V, V+, Ultra, Shogun, Shogun Ultra or Connect are required.

Blackmagic Design Raw

DaVinci Resolve or DaVinci Resolve Studio is required to play back and DaVinci Resolve Studio to edit Blackmagic RAW data.

Please refer to the Blackmagic Design website for information on the corresponding firmware version of Blackmagic Video Assist 5” 12G HDR and Blackmagic Video Assist 7" 12G HDR. All functions may not be available depending on the situation.

When recording In C4K 120p/100p or 5.7K 60p/50p, constant bitrate 5:1 or less 1s recommended for SSD recording and 8: 1 or less for SD card recording.

ProRes RAW

All functions may not be available depending on the situation. Ninja V, Ninja, and Shogun do not support some RAW video data, please check firmware compatibility for devices. V-Log LUTs are also available for download here.
