In another move establishing the brand’s pioneering spirit, Leica Unveils the M11-P Digital Rangefinder Camera, which arrives with the world’s first Content Authentication Initiative (CAI) compliance for discerning photographers.
The updated “P” version of the M11 sees a number of upgrades and new capabilities over the original model, along with a signature understated styling redesign. Together with the new camera, Leica also released a new M lens, new firmware for Rangefinders, and a pair of accompanying accessories.
Discover everything that’s new and improved for this generation M11-P right here in Park Camera news.
Leica unveils its latest masterpiece, the M11-P Rangefinder Camera, showcasing an eloquent balance between discreet design and groundbreaking innovation. Available in both silver and black finishes, the M11-P offers photographers a new Content Authentication tool, that redefines image authenticity in the digital AI-driven age.
The two cameras both remove the iconic Leica red dot logo in favour of a more discreet, stealthy design. The M11-P, black paint finish features an aluminium top cover, with scratch resistant black paint, whereas the silver model includes a brass top cover, with silver chrome finish.
Both include an engraved Leica top plate with Wetzlar Germany inscription, dark chrome viewfinder and effortless M11 style, which many find highly desirable. The P nomenclature denotes Press, or journalistic design, in keeping with special finish Leica cameras, such as the Leica SL2-S Reporter.
In a decisive step to help creators authenticate their digital photographs, Leica has introduced the world’s first Content credentials, according to Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI). Images can now be signed with content copyright verification (Leica Content Credentials), using encrypted metadata to provide transparency to an image captured with the M11-P.
Images can be confirmed by visiting contentcredentials.org/verify, or through the Leica FOTOS app, ensuring full transparency in an age where AI and editing make it hard to distinguish fact from fiction.
Beneath the stylish exterior lies a powerful camera, driven by the same combination of Maestro III image processor and a BSI CMOS full-frame sensor, as seen in the original M11. Triple resolution technology allows you to choose between an extraordinary 60 megapixels, and 36/18 megapixels.
Aside from the ability to sign images with content copyright verification, Leica has included a number of updates and additions for improved ergonomics and usability. These include Tethering in USB mode when shooting with Capture One or Lightroom, as well as:
Please note: Some of these features are only available following a firmware update 2.0.1 which is available on launch 26 October 2023. Visit the Leica downloads page to source the latest firmware for your camera.
Connectivity is another area where Leica excels, and the M11-P offers seamless connectivity through Bluetooth and USB-C, with the ability to control the camera and share images via the well rounded app. You can also connect the camera to an Apple device with the included cable.
With a Black Anodised finish, the Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH Lens offers a wide field of view, whilst complementing the new bodies, and existing Rangefinders perfectly. The 28mm fixed focal width is ideal as a general purpose lens, well suited to landscapes and street photography as well as photojournalism.
Together with the new body and lens, Leica introduced two dedicated M camera accessories, including the Leica M System Leather Bag Black and Leica Leather Carrying Strap Black. Both offer versatile features such as magnetic closures on the bag and integrated protective tabs on the strap.
Leica's M11-P is more than just a camera, it's an assertion of credibility and an embodiment of authenticity in the age of image manipulation. It also stands as testament to Leica's legacy of being at the forefront of technology, whilst placing desirable tools into the hands of creators for over 170 years.
Discover the power of Content Authentication coupled with ultra high-resolution photography in the Leica M11-P Digital Rangefinder Camera Black Finish and Leica M11-P Digital Rangefinder Camera Silver Finish.
