To coincide with the release of the Fujifilm GFX 100 II camera and 3 Fujifilm GF lenses launch, Fujifilm has unveiled the latest interchangeable GF lens roadmap for the GFX Series of medium format mirrorless digital cameras.
The camera range utilises Fuji’s larger format sensor, which is approximately 1.7x bigger than a 35mm full-frame sensor. Discover the latest lenses to be developed for the GFX medium format system in our Fujifilm G Mount Lens Roadmap below, which has been updated with two new lenses. These are a prime fixed focal width lens that covers the ultra-telephoto focal width, plus a power zoom lens for video filming.
This brings the total number of GF lenses to 20, to further expand the world of photography in superior image quality, made possible by high resolution sensors, which offer up to 102 megapixels.
In development is an ultra-telephoto prime lens with the focal length of 500mm (equivalent to 396mm in the 35mm film format). The introduction of this lens doubles GF lenses’ telephoto coverage from 250mm to 500mm.
It is compatible with a teleconverter to extend the reach further up to 700mm (equivalent to 554mm in the 35mm film format). This makes it possible to capture a distant subject, previously unreachable with the existing GF lens lineup, allowing users to use large format sensor’s world of high-resolution and high-quality imagery to photograph birds and other wildlife as well as airplanes.
The second GFX lens in development is a zoom that covers the standard range for motorised lenses, which is suitable for video filming. Aperture, focus and even zoom can be electronically controlled to achieve intricate and smooth operations to meet professional filmmaking needs.
Fujifilm has announced the release of the large-aperture standard prime Fujifilm GF 55mm f/1.7 R WR Lens, and two new tilt-shift lenses. These are the Fujifilm GF 30mm f/5.6 Tilt Shift Lens and Fujifilm GF 110mm f/5.6 Tilt Shift Macro Lens.
The brand will continue to enhance its optical lineup to boost the appeal of the GFX system, while advocating the incredible world of imagery and the joy of image creation.
