Having recently added VSGO to our lineup, we thought it was the perfect time to explore some of the VSGO camera and lens cleaning kit range in more depth. While cleaning your camera and lens may not be the most exciting task, it’s an essential part of maintaining the performance of your gear. Dust, dirt, and smudges can impact image quality, so it’s crucial to have the right tools on hand.
VSGO is a market leader in camera cleaning products, and with some extra time on our hands over the festive period, we explored VSGO’s comprehensive range of innovative and award-winning products, designed to make the process easy and effective.
Whether you're looking for a travel-friendly cleaning kit to bring on adventures or a full set for your entire camera system, VSGO has a series of high-quality tools that ensure your equipment stays in pristine condition.
So without further ado let’s get stuck in.
With over 20 years experience, VSGO has built a reputation as a market leader in the camera and lens cleaning industry, known for their high-quality, innovative and award-winning products. Today the brand offers a wide range of solutions for photographers and videographers who use a variety of camera systems and lenses.
From a lens pen to award-winning air blowers, cloths and swabs, VSGO’s products include everything needed for lens cleaning, sensor cleaning, and general camera maintenance, aimed at making the process simple and effective.
Incorporating these award-winning products into your cleaning routine will enhance the performance of your camera and lenses, ensuring your shots are free from dust spots and debris.
VSGO cleaning kit ready to go in the McKinnon backpack
One of the most popular products is the IMP VSGO Air Blower, which has received accolades for its ergonomic design and powerful one-way airflow. This helps photographers remove dust and debris from delicate surfaces without risk of further contamination, making it a must-have for anyone who cleans a camera sensor or lens.
After a spare battery and memory card, an air blower is one of the most essential tools for any creator, and it's something I personally use on virtually every shoot to blow dust off a lens before beginning.
We got our hands on the VSGO IMP, and the first thing you notice is just how small and compact it is, which makes it ideal for transporting in your camera bag and even storing in a pocket while capturing landscapes or shooting indoors or outside. We’ve included an image below, that highlights just how small it is compared to a standard air blower – who doesn’t want to save space and weight?
Smaller + Big Airflow = Better
The VSGO air blower truly punches above its weight, blasting out enough airflow to remove dust particles with ease. While we won’t go into the ins and outs of How To Clean a Camera Lens here, suffice to say, it does its job perfectly with a satisfying squeeze.
The IMP is also available in Imp Orange, the Imp Air Blower Blue and even a unique VSGO Imp Green which you’ll be able to locate more easily in your bag.
Next up we tried a more thorough lens clean.
The standalone VSGO Lens Cleaning Pen comes into its own when you need to deep clean a lens front element to remove stubborn debris or smears that resist the blower. Some premium lenses benefit from a fluorine coating, making this process easier, however, the majority of glass can attract hard-to-remove debris.
The lens pen from VSGO is compact and lightweight, and features a smartly designed rubber cap that protects the end with the cleaning brush for brushing dirt off the camera body. At the other end is a lens cleaning pad with carbon, which is designed to remove smears, oil, and smudges left by fingerprints or other means.
Aside from camera lenses, the pen is also suitable for any optical glass that shows fingerprints or oil stains, such as telescopes, binoculars, scopes, and spectacles. Being so small and intuitive to use, it’s a must-have that can accompany you on any shoot or travel with ease, as it’s about the same size as a regular pen, so it definitely gets a thumbs up from us. Next let’s explore sensor swabs.
Maintaining a clean camera sensor is vital for capturing sharp, clear images, which you can explore further in our How To Clean a Camera Sensor article. Suffice to say, over time, dust, dirt, and smudges can accumulate on the sensor, leading to unwanted spots or dust bunnies in your photographs and video footage.
Regular cleaning promotes optimal image quality and might even prolong the lifespan of your equipment. Cleaning a camera sensor requires precision and care to avoid damage, as well as using the appropriate tools, such as VSGO full-frame sensor cleaning swabs, which I used while reviewing these products.
VSGO sensor cleaning swabs are designed to fit specific sensor sizes. To achieve effective cleaning, it’s essential to choose the correct size swab for your camera sensor, whether it’s APS-C, micro four-thirds, or full-frame.
When cleaning your sensor, it's also advisable to use a liquid cleaner to more effectively remove contaminants and leave the surface spotless. If you don't already have some, VSGO makes handy kits with vacuum-sealed swabs and cleaning fluid included.
Cleaning a sensor is relatively easy once you've done it a few times, but remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions and don’t rush the process.
For photographers with an APS-C format sensor, the VSGO Camera Lens and Sensor Cleaning Portable Kit (also known as the DKL-20 Professional Cameras Cleaning Kit) is the ideal all-in-one solution for keeping your gear in tip-top condition, no matter where you are. This compact, portable kit makes cleaning and maintenance as easy as possible while on the go, ensuring that you always have the tools needed to hand.
The VSGO cleaning kit comes in a well-organised, zipped plastic case, making it simple to store and transport in your bag. Inside, you’ll find everything required for regular maintenance:
A portable kit makes perfect sense as it consolidates all of the essential tools you need into one easy-to-carry package, allowing you to store everything safely without the risk of forgetting something vital at home. Whether you're travelling, on location, or simply need quick access to your cleaning tools during a shoot, the VSGO cleaning kit ensures you’re prepared!
VSGO considers environmental responsibility, incorporating eco-friendly materials into its product range. A prime example is the Camera and Lens Compact Cleaning Kit, which features a non-toxic, odourless lens cleaner that is safe and effective for all camera lenses. It’s a solution designed to remove stubborn stains and fingerprints without compromising on safety or the environment.
Incorporating any of these award-winning products into your cleaning routine can enhance the longevity and performance of your camera and lenses. By investing in quality tools, you maintain the integrity of your equipment and save a ton of editing time removing spots and dirt from images or video frames. The level of quality VSGO offers is hard to match, making them the go-to brand for creators at all levels who want a reliable, all-in-one, and easy-to-use cleaning solution.
