Digital Photo Printers
Seeing your own photographs in print is extremely satisfying for any photographer, especially in this digital age. As an Epson Pro Photo Specialist Partner and Canon EOS Pro Partner we have a broad selection of the best photo printers and accessories at competitive prices. . Our selection spans the most popular sizes for printing at home, including large format, A3 and A4 sizes. Along with printer hardware, we also supply compatible accessories including printer ink, and photo papers.
The main considerations when choosing a photo printer are size of print, range of features required, connectivity and print quality.
The size of printer comes down to the size of prints you will make most often as well as how often you will be printing images. Smaller printers (A4 for example) will take up a small footprint and require less frequent printing to keep them functioning properly. Larger printers require more space and often need more regular printing in order to maintain functionality. Larger models also tend to have more individual ink tanks for various colours and several blacks, resulting in professional photographic results.
Thicker stock papers can also be loaded into larger models allowing for media flexibility. Another benefit of large format is the ability to print onto rolls of paper. This gives a degree of size flexibility as well as full panorama prints at a lower cost than individual sheets of paper.
Epson also has a popular range of ‘eco tank’ models which utilise large capacity ink tanks for cost savings with more regular printing on slightly smaller devices. All-in-one models such as this can be very useful for copying and scanning documents, together with photo printing, which is ideal for the home office.
Another consideration is how the printer will be connected. Some models require a cable to be permanently connected to a PC/Mac, whilst others allow for Wi-Fi and wireless connectivity, which is a great benefit for some users.
And lastly the print quality is worth consideration. If you sell or exhibit, only professional quality will suffice. Which other purposes will the images be used for? Perhaps proofing and portfolio printing, or perhaps a sketchbook? Perhaps you are printing a mixture of essays, photos, graphics and other visual pieces? For exhibition quality finishes we would recommend a dedicated high quality monitor or Wacom tablet as well as colour calibration throughout the workflow.
